Privacy Policy

YapNap is made by Ronan Brigdale, an individual developer based in Ireland, who is the data controller for this policy. Contact: support@yap-nap.com.

This policy covers the YapNap iPhone app and this website, yap-nap.com.

YapNap uses your microphone, with your permission, only while a listening session is running. iOS shows its recording indicator while it does. The app processes the sound on your device and saves only the moments louder than your sensitivity setting.

The following is stored only in YapNap’s storage on your iPhone:

• Audio clips and their waveforms.
• Session details, such as start and end times and the sensitivity used.
• Favourites and your settings, such as language and appearance.
• A count of your free nights, stored in the iOS Keychain so the free period isn’t reset by reinstalling.

None of this is uploaded to us or anyone else. We have no server that receives it and we cannot see, hear, or recover it. Like other app data, it can be included in your own iCloud or computer backups of your iPhone, under Apple’s terms.

Purchases are handled by Apple through the App Store. To check whether you have bought the lifetime unlock, the app uses RevenueCat, a purchase-management service that acts as our data processor. RevenueCat receives:

• A random, anonymous app user ID created on your device (not your name or email).
• Purchase and receipt information from the App Store.
• Basic technical information needed to answer its requests, such as app version, iOS version, device model, locale and IP address.

RevenueCat never receives your recordings, clips, or session details. See RevenueCat’s privacy policy. Apple processes payments under Apple’s privacy policy.

• No accounts or sign-in.
• No analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs, and no tracking across apps or websites.
• No selling or sharing of personal data.
• No transcription or analysis of your recordings off the device.

This website sets no cookies and runs no analytics. If you choose light or dark mode, that choice is saved in your browser’s local storage and never sent to us. Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs (such as IP address and pages requested) for security and reliability.

Processing on your device happens because you choose to use the app. Purchase information is processed to provide the lifetime unlock you buy (performance of a contract) and to meet legal obligations such as tax and accounting. Website logs are kept for our legitimate interest in running a secure site.

You control everything stored on your iPhone. Delete a clip or a night in the app at any time. Nights are also deleted automatically after the period you choose in Settings (7, 30 or 90 days); starred clips are kept until you delete them. Deleting the app removes its recordings and settings. The free-night count in the Keychain may remain after deletion, as iOS keeps Keychain items for reinstalls.

RevenueCat keeps purchase records for as long as needed to provide your purchase and meet legal requirements. To ask for those records to be deleted, contact us.

RevenueCat is based in the United States. Transfers of purchase information are protected by the safeguards RevenueCat provides, such as the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or Standard Contractual Clauses.

Under the GDPR you can ask to access, correct, delete, or move your personal data, and object to or restrict its processing. Because your recordings exist only on your device, you can exercise most of these rights directly in the app. For purchase records, email support@yap-nap.com and we will respond within one month.

You can also complain to the Data Protection Commission in Ireland, or your local data protection authority.

YapNap is not directed at children under 16 and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them.

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new date. If the app ever starts sending any new kind of data off your device, we will update this policy before that version is released.
